As for why Halo is IMO a good game: it's a helluva lot of FUN to play. Especially co-op campaign and multiplayer frag fests! It's not a world changer, it's just fun. End of story...

I have no problem with people posting their opinions of a game, good or bad, but I do take issue with it when they assert their opinion as fact and proceed to impose it upon others. The only thing HALO has ever contributed to "gaming" as a whole was to showcase xbox live. Which should be the defacto standard now for any of the other console manufacturers wanting to connect ppl from all over to game.

Good hell people, Gears is over-rated. It's a fast-paced Resident Evil 4 with a cover mechanic. The only reason people are obsessed with it is the years worth of hype, advertising, and the graphics.

Don't get me wrong, I like Gears. But I got more time out of F.E.A.R. for hell's sake. As for game of the year...I would pick Dead Rising waaaaaay before Gears of War.

As CliffyB said, Halo has those "water cooler" moments. No other FPS is going to leave a gamer with ridiculous stories about how they got that Killamanjaro. That's why people are excited about it.

Expect even more screaming when the server crashes and they cannot even access the site to sign up.

It is a good deal and these new betas are making paying for gold more and more worth it.

Sad thing is, is that Bungie is throwing themselves into the vat of boiling oil with this. Expect every kid with half a brain cell to be writing them multi-page long e-mails and forum posts on how the multiplayer sucks and how they should change it so its so much better.

I hope to get a spot.
