Ketsueki - Somewhere I downloaded a performance of The Legend of Zelda theme by John William's Orchestra (you know, the guy that did the theme music for star wars, indiana jones, and others). I don't know where I got it, but if you are interested I'll find a way to get that to you.

What I've wanted for years was an orchestral version of the opening from the original Legend of Zelda game. One of the songs for Twilight Princess sounds frustratingly like it, which is why I bought the pack at Target, but it doesn't contain that song.

The one song that I hear and think is definitively 'Zelda' (Aside from the in game ones, but the pack seems to have the memorable ones of those) and I have no idea where to obtain a high quality version of it; one of the songs I have most enjoyed over the years. If it is out there maybe someone could link me to it?

Yeah, I made the brilliant mistake of posting before LISTENING to the sound track. Go me :P

It definitely is not all orchestrated. So now I really don't know why they couldn't have at least included more tracks.

I still like it, but I probably would have been disappointed if I hadn't gotten it for the sword and shield anyways... the soundtrack, to me, was just a bonus.

After listening to the songs on the soundtrack, it seems that the only song that sounds orchestrated is the first track. The other five are definitely the synthesized music found in the game. While the synthesizer quality is a step or so above what was found in previous Zelda games, it's still a synth.

Here's to hoping they do another Hyrule Symphony-style album for Twilight Princess.

The sword and shield ARE metal. They are excellent quality (though you should check out the paint job before you grab one, if they have more than one left of course).

As for the reason there are only 6 tracks:
According to the research I've done, all the music in Twilight Princess is midi (like all the Zelda titles before it), except for these 6 songs, which were orchestrated. So they are the only ones included because they are higher quality. The reason the rest is midi, is obviously not because the system can't handle anything better, or that Nintendo can't do anything better, it's that midi allows the music to change dynamically. There was a lot of talk about this around Wind Waker - the midi format allows the same music to change seamlessly. You know how you can tell when there are enemies near because the music gets quicker paced and more dramatic? That's midi. I'm assuming (since I haven't reached all these songs in the game yet) that these ones are during cut scenes, and therefore could be orchestrated without losing that dynamic.

BTW, when I was at my Target (admittedly as soon as I could after seeing this in the ad - I'm obsessed with the Master Sword) they had probably upwards of 20 on the small end of the aisle rack. They probably had more in the back too (this is the same Target where we finally found a second Nunchuck for my cousin, because they had some under the counter and not out on the display). If someone is desperate for it, I could probably help you out. And I'm not going to charge you some huge amount either. I would not jeopardize Zelda's honor that way. :)

This item was released at Target for the 11/26 ad. The store I work for had plenty in stock so I don't know just how limited it is. It is produced by Master Replicas and is only available in store. It is pretty but I passed on it. Besides, the soundtrack is a bit weak with only 6 songs.

Oh man, I was all over this! It even got a spot in the ad!
There has never been an officially released sword and shield from Nintendo, so this is monumentous! (Trust me, I run VGMM - www.videogamemm.com).
It's really nice, and made by Master Replicas.

There were some of these at the Target I visited on the day of release for the Wii.. I saw someone almost get trampled by a guy who thought it was the actual game. The guy who rushed for it got several insults for his trouble, and even more once the rest of the people there realized what it was he'd rushed for. Probably the only grumbling I heard.

Now, if only they had more Wii consoles... (yes, I was an idiot and didn't pre-order, and wasn't quite early enough for the lines).

Picked this up today. The CD only has 6 tracks, which is sorta lame, but the 1/6th scale sword and shield are quite nice. They are indeed made of metal, and have some really nice detail.

As someone stated before, it comes with a COA signed by Miyamoto, and if it means anything to anyone, these are also branded with the Master Replicas logo, so I suppose they produced them.

I saw this on launch day and ignored it since I was concentrating on the wii and games at the time. Today I remembered it and went back to the same Target and took a closer look. They still had plenty of them on an end cap, but it's $40 for a plastic sword + shield and 6 track CD. Ouch! As much as the otaku in me wants this, I couldn't justify it for the price.

Erona: I had the same problem. It's either in the electronics section or in the toy section.

They're going to be stupid - I kept telling them it was in the advertisment (whatever you do - don't say you saw it online, or they'll tell you that it's probably not in the store and try to hang up on you). It was unpacked *today*, and odds are, they'll have it. Just keep on them until they actually look it up in their systems and either find it or decide it's not in stock.
