HL2 Combine Elite Pic Looks like Cosplay, Is Not

This picture (full resolution after the jump) is not a cosplayer getting up to face the day as a Combine Elite soldier from Half-Life 2. It's actually a render of one into a shot of someone's bedroom. It's crazily reminiscent of this gallery, cosplay enthusiasts, in costume, hanging about in everyday settings. (The best is Chewbacca in the kitchen).

Yet Another Custom Half-Life 2 Figure

Didn't you get the memo? Custom HL2 figures are 2008's cakes. Not as edible, perhaps, but chock full of crafty goodness nonetheless. The latest to drop into our inbox comes via reader Rob, who - inspired by Jin Saotome's cartoony offering - decided to whip up his own Gordon Freeman action figure. Rob writes:

It's not quite as professional as Jin's effort, but I think it makes up for it in accuracy to the source material.

Don't be so hard on yourself, Rob! Looks great (like a Gordon Freeman appearance on Robot Chicken), and yes, we appreciate the increased accuracy to the source material. The base was a nice touch.

The weekly Valve update gives Half-Life fans a look at the new whip MIT grad Gordon Freeman will be driving come Episode Two. Some good news about the next episode, due to be included in the upcoming Half-Life 2 Orange and Black boxes is within:

Half-Life 2: Episode 2 is being playtested here at Valve regularly now, and one of the pieces of the game that's getting strong reactions from our testers is driving the game's new vehicle. This thing's got some major horsepower.

What's so great about it is that it matches Gordo's H.E.V. suit, making his next outing a very stylish affair. Michael McWhertor
