Blood, mostly. Here, take a napkin, wipe it off ... These are 19 new screenshots of Left 4 Dead that NeoGAF put up earlier this week. Lots of dismemberment and bloodspatter, but I'm not seeing any mid-spew vomit money shots here. The full gallery is on the jump. NeoGAF has them at higher resolution.

<![CDATA[ Dracula Wants Your Blood, Southern California ]]> Dracula teaming up with the Red Cross? Can you say dream team? Encore Software is celebrating last month's release of their PC mystery adventure game Dracula 3: The Path of the Dragon, with a Dracula Blood Drive. The event is taking place October 3rd and 4th in either different locations throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties, with donors being entered in a drawing to win a copy of the game and various other prizes. While many of you have never heard of the game, to quote an imaginary out-of-touch 80's marketing executive, "Giving blood is rad, dudes!"
“The American Red Cross does so much to help people in need and we are thrilled to be able to bring more attention to the importance of blood donation through our Dracula Blood Drive,” said Cal Morrell, president of Encore. “We look forward to a successful blood drive and hope people who have never donated blood take this opportunity to make a difference.”

Hit the jump for a list of participating locations, and remember...they take your human juices from you on-site. Showing up with your own blood-filled bags is considered very bad form indeed.

<![CDATA[ Requiem: Bloodymare Trailer ]]>

When I heard there was going to be an ultra gory MMO, my interest was piqued. But, after seeing some screens and now this trailer, my pique has waned a bit. It looks nice if not a bit generic and there's not nearly as much blood and gore as I had hoped for something with "bloody" in the title. But, who knows, it could shape up to be a really amazing game for all I know and then who will be laughing out of the other side of his face? The real question though is: Does lots of blood equal a good MMO?

<![CDATA[ No More Heroes Censorship Explained...Kinda ]]> nmhcensored2.jpgNo More Heroes was supposed to be a gorefest in Europe and the US. But to every Australian Kotaku writer's surprise, the game will have the blood censored for its Europe release. In the theme of pretending we care about markets outside the US, we thought that we should let you know that Grasshopper CEO 'Suda 51' and Marvelous's Yashiro Wada made a joint statement today on the matter that should clear things up a bit:
First, let me say how honoured I am that everyone in Europe is expecting No More Heroes....The sales point of this game is action. Both I and Wada san have concentrated on making the best possible action game for the Nintendo Wii. We have chosen to release in Europe the same version as has shipped in Japan considering the broadly growing Wii market.
In other words, everyone thinks this will be a more lucrative plan. I prefer the subtlety of ash fountains to spurting blood anyway.

<![CDATA[ Holy Hell, That's a Long Machinima: BloodSpell ]]> bloodspell.jpg Have 84 minutes to kill? No? Me neither. But if I did, I'd wade in and take a look at the feature-length cut of the BloodSpell machinima by Strange Company (directed by Hugh Hancock) - it's long, it's been four years in development all told, and seems like one hell of an ambitious project. I did take a short gander at it, and if the whole 84 minutes is as nicely put together as the short bit I watched, it's probably worth a looksee. The machinima was made with the Neverwinter Nights engine. It's also being released under Creative Commons:

We`re fairly sure BloodSpell is the largest Machinima film ever created. It`s an independent film that, because it is using Machinima technology, isn`t subject to the usual limitations of smaller films. But, at the same time, we don`t have the politics, money and producers of a Hollywood production involved, so we can experiment with ideas, styles and attitudes that wouldn`t be possible in a more top-heavy Hollywood production.

Of course, we still have some limitations, and BloodSpell won`t be beating out `Lord of the Rings` for visual effects. But we hope that what we lack in slick polish, we can make up for in originality and passion.

So take a look if you're fond of machinima and have an hour and a half to kill.

<![CDATA[ Chinese MMO Maker Out For Blood ]]>

Moliyo, a Chinese company that runs a popular MMO called Cabal recently banned over 120,000 players for using illegal software to hack into the game and get better stats and money, etc. Pretty standard stuff. Well, now Moliyo is offering to take these cheaters back into the the fold...for a price: their precious precious blood! For one pint of blood, formerly ousted gamers can join the ranks of the Cabal privileged once again. A similar offer is being made to non-cheating players where they will be given a free account with their one pint donation.

What if World of Warcraft offered a similar deal to their banned players? I imagine it would be something akin to that elevator scene in The Shining only much much bigger.

<![CDATA[ More Left 4 Dead Details Rise From The Grave ]]>

Those lucky bastards at IGN U.K. have got a chance to do hands on with Turtle Rock Studios' upcoming zombie slaughter fest, Left 4 Dead. The newest addition to the zombie game brigade will feature 4 person co-op play and the ability to play either the survivors or the infected. IGN goes in to great detail about the different classes of infected and their various powers (they are not allowed to use traditional weapons). Currently, Turtle Rock is developing Left 4 Dead for PC to be released this summer. The possibility of a 360 version is also discussed, but Turtle Rock is remaining tight lipped on that subject.

While I'm not the biggest PC gamer, I will be picking this title up if for no other reason than to team up with Luke and vomit blood on the teeming hordes of our enemies. We tried it on the subway in NYC and it worked rather well.

<![CDATA[ Blood-Spattered 360 Mod ]]>

One of the Llamma's Game Console forum readers has upped pics of their sweet new case mod.

The mod includes red lighting, a clear air tunnel, see-through DVD drive cover, oh and lots of blood spatter. That's spatter, not splatter. Let me know if you know the difference. :)

<![CDATA[ Worth's Never Made Games ]]>

Nothing helps me wind down at the end of a long work day quite like flipping through Worth1000's Photoshop contests. As a graphics designer on the side, I can truly appreciate how much better most of these bastards are than I am, while still catching the occasional really bad one that boosts my self esteem.

The sixth iteration of their Beta Busts contest just concluded, featuring concept art for games that never got made. You can see my personal favorite to the right there, the wonderfully understated "Chess with Blood". Big focus on sports games this time around due to the relative ease of slapping anything over an EA 200X cover. Enjoy!
