Official 360 Complaint Numbers, More Consoles Coming

USA Today is reporting that Microsoft plans to ship Xbox 360s to retailers on a weekly basis, according to a USA Today article. The article also quotes analyst P.J. McNealy as saying that he thinks that between 300,000 to 400,000 360s were sold on day one. Of course he also bought into the whole lie about Microsoft not wanting to sell out on day one, so I'm guessing he just made the sales number up.

Microsoft has been tight-lipped about their day one sales, which in my mind has always been a bad sign. When Halo 2 hit stores they had a press release out by midnight touting their sales figures.

The article also mentions the issue with some 360s, quoting a rep as saying that the rate of complaints to 3 to 5 percent, which isn't bad, but is also way, way lower than what our poll is showing.

There could be a lot of reasons for that. First, I'm sure our poll is very exaggerated because anyone can vote. Second, I'm sure not everyone has complained to Microsoft, especially if it's just the occasional lock-up. Finally, the system hasn't even been out for a week and a lot were probably purchased as gifts.

Kudos to USA Today for tackling three of the major questions about the 360 launch.
