Reader Chris T. writes in with this find from his local Target. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess soundtrack that comes with a 1/6 scale replica Hylian Sword and Shield. Chris describes it as a "limited supply" with a price tag of $39.99 so if you want to get your hands on this one, I would suggest you get down to Target ASAP. But, as we learned with the console launches, always remember to call ahead now and avoid bitter disappointment later.

:O
I want!!!!
Is htis the same that nintendo Power ppl are getting?
I dont think it's the same because it's a 40 dollar value. They probably just send you the soundtrack w/o the sword/shield thingy.
This is the type of shit Nintendo should be giving away through their game/system registration on nintendo.com. Japan gets all sorts of cool stuff, but the rest of the world gets the ol screwjob.
Kdawg: Agreed. I have a ton of points from my Gamecube / DS games (and soon my Wii) but they're pretty much useless.
omg...
I got mine, and debating what to do with it. Part of me wants to put it up on a shelf where it will look pretty. The other part wants my son to play with it and I'll listen to it. Another part wants to wait a month then sell it on eBay along with a portion of my soul.
Decisions, decisions.
DO WANT
I've been looking everywhere for any details on the actual full soundtrack release (not the few tracks coming with nintendo power) and this is the first I've heard anything about it. Going to my target tomorrow to check if they have it.
none of my targets even know what i a talking about...
Erona: I had the same problem. It's either in the electronics section or in the toy section.
They're going to be stupid - I kept telling them it was in the advertisment (whatever you do - don't say you saw it online, or they'll tell you that it's probably not in the store and try to hang up on you). It was unpacked *today*, and odds are, they'll have it. Just keep on them until they actually look it up in their systems and either find it or decide it's not in stock.
Erona, they should know, because it is pictured in the latest ad. Did you ask about the Sword/Shield set, or did you ask about the soundtrack? Because if you asked about the soundtrack, nobody would know what you are talking about since they don't sell that seperate.
is it made of metal or just shiny plastic? I guess at $40, it's probably metal. it looks pretty cool. I'll have to see if the nearby Target has any
I saw this on launch day and ignored it since I was concentrating on the wii and games at the time. Today I remembered it and went back to the same Target and took a closer look. They still had plenty of them on an end cap, but it's $40 for a plastic sword + shield and 6 track CD. Ouch! As much as the otaku in me wants this, I couldn't justify it for the price.
sword is awesome and the certificate of authenticity is signed by miyamoto. but the soundtrack only has 6 songs on it so your not getting much music.
oh yeah and its metal
I feel the same as Makenai. It's purty, but I just can't bring myself to lay down $40 for it. That's $40 for pre-order bonus material.
Anyway, they had plenty in stock at my local Super Target (Knoxville, TN).
Target doesn't even list it on their online store. BUT! They do have a Twilight Princess hardcover apparently on December 12th.
Zelda Hardcover
Maybe it's an early release? Someone show me on their website. Meanwhile I'm gonna make some calls.
Aieeee!! I am looking for a Wii + Zelda right now and I want this! And it's only $40!
hardcover might be a book?
@makenai
This wasn't available on launch day. I don't have one personally, but I've seen others online posting that the shield and sword are made of metal also.
I would suggest some one hot glue the sword and shield onto their wii remote
@aragashi
That hardcover is a limited edition strategy guide.
Picked this up today. The CD only has 6 tracks, which is sorta lame, but the 1/6th scale sword and shield are quite nice. They are indeed made of metal, and have some really nice detail.
As someone stated before, it comes with a COA signed by Miyamoto, and if it means anything to anyone, these are also branded with the Master Replicas logo, so I suppose they produced them.
I checked Target's website, but nothing is listed >_<
I'll swing by when I go home next week and see if they have any in stock or something.
Oh shit that's awesome.
wow, i just called, and the dude said they sold out at my local target store O_o like.... just sold out...
These things are already up on eBay for $80+, with sellers trying to claim things like that they're already sold out and that there are only 7000 of them. No one seems to be going for their rediculous prices though.
just curious, what songs are on the CD?
There were some of these at the Target I visited on the day of release for the Wii.. I saw someone almost get trampled by a guy who thought it was the actual game. The guy who rushed for it got several insults for his trouble, and even more once the rest of the people there realized what it was he'd rushed for. Probably the only grumbling I heard.
Now, if only they had more Wii consoles... (yes, I was an idiot and didn't pre-order, and wasn't quite early enough for the lines).
Songs include:
1. The Legend of Zelda: Orchestra Piece #2
2. Hyrule Field Main Theme
3. Kakariko Village
4. Death Mountain
5. Midna's Theme
6. Llia's Theme
So pretty, yet such a waste of money.
NOT worth $40.
Forty bucks for a baby-sized shield and sword? Just sell the soundtrack alone.
Well. So far I've found that one target is staffed by someone who doesn't want to go looking. Second one I called is obviously not a gamer. "Is that a band?" I'm like... GRAAAAR! Get someone that knows the products.
Hey iameleveneight... Yes... It is a waste of money... too bad that doesnt stop me from wanting it! >_<
Broken Kotaku never leaves my comments. Grr. Here's my post shortened. Called local targets. One thought it was a band. The other was too lazy to look. I have to physically stop by tomorrow to see. Suckage.
Ugh. I need to start using something else. IE has issues with Kotaku. Opera never displays the pictures. Kotaku needs to make its own like...Browser. That'd be awesome. Kotaku 9.0 - Owning your IE.
Looks nice, but I'll wait to buy the real, full, imported soundtrack.
Oh yay, my tip got posted on Kotaku :D.
Anywho, for those wondering what's on the music sampler, you can go here and check it out.

I love Kakariko Village.
aragashi, i use Firefox and it never has any trouble with the comments posting.
The limited edition-ness of it kind of makes me want it but the length of the soundtrack, and the smallish scale of the sword and shield are certainly helping me to refrain from buying it.
If I were going to splurge on a Zelda Collector's item, it'd probably be on one of these.
Aragashi and every other cluestick-needing-to-get-hit-upside-the-head-with little twit...
1. You type your comment.
2. You hit the button that says "submit comment".
3. You don't do a damned other thing.
3b. Just because you don't see your golden insight listed right away doesn't mean you need to type it again. Go do something else.
3c. Still not seeing it? Too bad. It's not so much the comment system that's broken as your threshold of patience.
Oh and the hardcover is a book, not an ost
http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=832039
and yes, the sword and shield are Metal.
Frak! There's no Target here! Hell, I think there are only like two Targets in the whole state! Damn Oklahoma!
Oh man, I was all over this! It even got a spot in the ad!
There has never been an officially released sword and shield from Nintendo, so this is monumentous! (Trust me, I run VGMM - www.videogamemm.com).
It's really nice, and made by Master Replicas.
The tracks have already been posted, so I won't bother. Super drool fest though!
xeres7: while what you say is true you do have to admit the comment system on Kotaku is really weak - why not go with any of the other million systems that show your post immediately and don't cause so many issues with so many people? I have never seen another message board with as many double posts as this one.
This item was released at Target for the 11/26 ad. The store I work for had plenty in stock so I don't know just how limited it is. It is produced by Master Replicas and is only available in store. It is pretty but I passed on it. Besides, the soundtrack is a bit weak with only 6 songs.
@modifiedbears:
Dude, but I was holding it in my hand on launch day. It was on the same cardboard rack thing as the wiimotes at my Target on the morning of the 19th. Maybe they weren't supposed to bring it out yet, but it was definitely there.
I want to cry knowing I will never have this. :'(
Ah, Serena - don't cry. Is it a lack of money or stores? If the latter, I can help you out. If the former - uh, sucks to be you?
lack of stores... T_T There are no Target stores in Saskatchewan... I don't even know if they have them in the rest of Canada...
Whyyyyyy???!!?! *shakes fist*
yeah, if this turns up at any stores in canada, i'll be pumped. Yes, I don't really like Zelda too much, but I love limited edition stuff. Heck, if someone took a dump, and told me it was limited edition, i would be tempted to buy it. I, ladies and gentlemen, am a consumer whore
