    Why I Hate Pac-Man

    I know I've been hating on the retro Xbox Live Arcade games lately, but I just can't help it. The more I play them the more I realize I'm going to need to find a MAME stick that works on the Xbox 360. (Here's hoping X-Arcade is getting one.)

    My latest experience with the games was Pac-Man. Against my better judgment I decided to buy the game and check it out. Holy crap I hate thumbsticks. You just can't play Pac-Man with your thumb, it requires a big stick that you can wrap your meaty paw around and slam in different directions to trick up their annoying ghosts. Every time I tried to pull something less than anticipated Pac-Man started slamming into walls and heading the wrong direction. The thumbstick is just too sensitive for a game like this. Proof, perhaps, that not all "classics" should get all Livey on us. Brian Crecente
