While I have to admit I haven't held it in my hand, I can't imagine how a company that got it so right with the Dual-Shock has somehow managed to get it so wrong with the 'boomerang'. I'm completely there with you, lets hope minor refers to a total redesign. Also, anyone who was in a focus group that gave approval for this controller should be banned from any further focus groups not involving products that are meant for throwing.
Personally, I think the dual shock is the worst controller ever. It just doesn't "fit" right at all. Not to mention the lack of triggers, so driving games are annoying to play. Then, the joystiqs are close together and annoying for FPS... the only thing it's good for are sports games. On the other hand, I love the new 360 controller, fits in your hand awesomely.
hold it, hold it there.... worst controller ever? EVER? now don't get me wrong, i'm an xbox fan, but anyone in their right mind needs to recognize that all current controllers are based off the dual shock. no? agreed that triggers are awesome. but then again, i really don't care for the dreamcast controller. agreed that the thumbsticks on the dual shock are too close together and too loose to function with first person shooters. all that said, i can't find anything about the dual shock that makes it worse than the gc controller. talk about not working well with FPSs... or any other cross platform game for that matter. anyway i dont wanna start dissing controllers, i just wanted to say that the dual shock is not the worst controller ever. the jaguar controller holds that record at least until the ps3 debuts.
Eh, the gc controller just feels cheap. Everything about it feels cheap. It fits more smoothly in your hands than the dual shock, but Nintendo really skimped in the quality department. And that goes for both the regular and wireless controller.
at least you can protect yourself from the attacking kangaroos ;). But yeah i'm not gonna bash on it until I try the controller. Just make overplayed jokes :)
On the plus side, the ps3 controller looks like it could be used to liven up a stale marriage. They could be trying to tap into a whole new demographic. ;)
Ok, maybe not worst ever, but definitely bad, it's only good for sports games, pretty much. At least with GC you can play racing games (triggers) and it's at least semi-ergonomic. The dual shock was better than the N64 controller (who has 3 hands?), but they should have at least changed the form for PS2 one a little bit... Also, I did something to my thumb in a charity dodgeball tournament, and whenever I use a PS2 controller my thumb just KILLS. In the end, it comes down to what games you like. In order, I like: Racing Sports FPS So, I really don't like the ps2 controller that much... add triggers and some joystick resistance, then maybe we can talk.
