With the New Year's holidays in full swing, reports are trickling in that Japan is starting to get hit with increased and regular PS3 shipments. Reader dokool snapped the above pic, writing:
Went to the large Bic Camera in Shibuya yesterday to pick up stuff for my new apartment. As it's the new year, various stores were doing New Years grab-bag sales which involves paying some set price for a bag, the specific contents of which are unknown. Department stores do clothing grab bags, and stores like Bic Camera offer various electronics - such as the 5000-yen MP3 player, the 10,000 yen photo printer, the 15,000 yen digital camera, and so on and so forth.Anyway, to the immediate right of the new years sale table was, much to my surprise, a bigass pallet of PS3s. There were roughly 16 of the 60GB versions and 12 of the 20GB versions, priced at about 60,000yen ($520) and 50,000 yen ($430) respectively.
For all the Sony smack talk, hats off to them for going full speed and getting units out there to meet the demand.
