The Sony Style flagship store in San Francisco is dangerously close to becoming a microcosmic statement on the PlayStation 3 launch around the world, as a crowd close to 1,000 strong has already amassed outside the store, eagerly awaiting the new console's launch.
Even with police officers on hand to keep things civil, the line got nasty this morning, when Sony employees attempted to move the line to a different location, causing many people to rush the front of the line for better positioning. As the threat of a major incident loomed, promise from the employees that the first 750 people in line were guaranteed a system calmed things down.
As the line continues to grow, Sony continues to promise there will be enough for everyone. At one time they promised that to the world at large, and we know how that turned out. All I can say is that in this situation, they'd better come through, or things are going to get really ugly.
