Cast your minds all the way back to February, and you'll remember a little legal battle that was developing between Activision and some former Red Octane employees. In a nutshell, Activision was accusing them of nicking some Guitar Hero ideas and using them to build rival products.
Anyways, a settlement has been reached in the case. As a result, two of the three alleged conspirators, John Tam and Corey Fong, have agreed to the following:
- They can't have anything to do with making a game based on guitars, drums or synthesizers for 12 months.
- They can't have anything to do with any third-party GHII 360 controllers for 6 months.
- There are further "confidential" peripheral devices which they can't work until said peripherals have been commercially available for 6 months.
- Plus some more stuff like giving up loads of documents relating to Guitar Hero
-
That's a pretty light punishment for stealing. No word on what's in store for co-conspirator Jamie Yang, so maybe they're saving the dungeon and firing squad for him.
