Brandon Sheffield over at Insert Credit has dug up this wonderful collection of Atari 2600-era Activision patches. After meeting the challenges like reaching a certain score or beating the computer, players would snap a pic of their TV screens and send them in. Activision would reply with a patch and a letter of congrats. In short: These are the first Achievements. That letter of congratulations is class, and I kinda wish they'd do that now. Even an email would be nice!
